Penn State 64, No. 23 Illinois 63: Battle’s buzzer-beater strengthens PSU’s resume

After hearing about the 38-33 clunker between Penn State & Illinois last month, I wasn’t really planning on giving this game any attention, even though it was a pivotal Big Ten contest and a must-win for the Nittany Lions NCAA tournament hopes.

I caught the last three minutes, and liked what I saw. Mike Davis missed the front-end of the 1-and-1, then Penn State star Taylor Battle did the rest:

Penn State (21-9, 10-7) finishes the regular season in Iowa City against the woeful Hawkeyes. Illinois (23-8, 11-7) is one of the best defensive teams in College Basketball and will likely receive a #5 seen in the Big Dance.
