Rakim sets it off: B.C. wins at the buzzer

tyresericeRakim Sanders hit a fading jumper with 1.7 seconds remaining to give the Eagles a much-needed 67-66 win in thrilling fashion Saturday morning.

Boston College (21-10, 9-7) is still on the bubble for the NCAA tournament, but wins over North Carolina and Duke make it a strong at-large candidate.

A home loss to a bad Georgia Tech (11-18, 2-14) squad would have been devastating.  The Yellow Jackets have decent talent a should be much-improved next season.  Paul Hewitt may not be able to coach, but he sure can recruit.

Sanders led B.C. with 19 points.  Tyrese Rice, playing in his final home game, added 17 points, shooting 12-12 from the foul line.

We’ll post the highlight of the final shot as soon as somebody else posts it.  Stay tuned.
