The only thing I knew about North Dakota St. going into this game was it had Ben Woodside. And I didn’t know how good he really was until I watched him school Sherron Collins in the second half.

Woodside poured in 37 points, but Kansas used a huge size advantage inside to wear down NDSU and pulled off an 84-74 victory in Minneapolis.

Sorry Bismarck.

Cole Aldrich has a terrific second half for Kansas and finished with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Collins scored 32 points and had eight assists for the Jayhawks.

Most of Friday’s early games have been very exciting, but the crowd in Minneapolis was very vocal and made the game fun to watch. Much of NDSU’s roster hails from Minnesota and the Bison received terrific fan support during the game.

Kansas faces a huge challenge in the second round against either Dayton or West Virginia. The Jayhawks don’t matchup particularly well with either team.

Stay tuned.
