South Region Preview: Michigan-Oklahoma

Taylor Griffin and brother Blake have an advantage inside against Michigan.

Balding Taylor Griffin and little brother Blake have an advantage inside against Michigan.

Michigan takes on talented Oklahoma tomorrow with a berth in the Sweet 16 on the line.

The Wolverines slipped past Clemson 62-59 last night, holding the Tigers to 32 percent shooting.

Oklahoma steamrolled Morgan St. 82-54, as Blake Griffin poured in 28 points on 11-12 shooting.

Griffin is the best player in the country, but Michigan’s zone will make him work.

The Sooners will need long-sleeved Tony Crocker and Austin Johnson to hit perimeter shots to free up Blake and Taylor Griffin inside.

Michigan’s Manny Harris was terrific against Clemson and will need to have a big game for the Wolverines to win. Harris is a good shooter off the dribble and capable of getting to the basket.

If DeShawn Sims has a good game, Michigan will certainly make things interesting a could pull the upset.

I expect Oklahoma to play up-tempo and get some easy baskets in transition. Blake Griffin is too big and athletic for Michigan to handle, so I look for Oklahoma to win in a close game.

Stay tuned.
