Two of the most storied programs in College Basketball meet tonight in Indy as (3) Kansas takes on (2) Michigan State.
Cole Aldrich and Sherron Collins have carried the Jayhawks through the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament.
Aldrich recorded a triple-double against Dayton Sunday but faces a tough battle against Michigan St.’s Goran Suton.
Collins faces Big Ten player of the Kalin Lucas in an intriguing point guard matchup. Collins can be a dynamic scorer and has become the unquestioned leader of the Jayhawks. Lucas is lighting-quick but not a great shooter.
Kansas will need a better performance from its role players, including Tyshawn Taylor and Marcus Morris.
The young Jayhawks looked rattled a times against North Dakota State in the first round but played better in the second half against Dayton.
Michigan State got some breaks down the stretch to hang on against USC. The Spartans have good balance and will need big games from Durrell Summers and Raymar Morgan to beat Kansas.
Morgan has struggled with health issues this season and hasn’t played well, but matches up well with the Jayhawks frontline.
This game is too close to call. I picked Michigan St. in most of my brackets, which means Kansas will probably win.
