DePaul guard Dar Tucker has declared for the NBA draft and decided to hire an agent, according to a report by WSCR 670 The Score in Chicago Tuesday.
Tucker, a 6’4″ sophomore, averaged 18.5 ppg and 5.4 rpg last season. He was rumored to be testing the NBA waters, but was not expected to hire an agent.
The turmoil surrounding DePaul’s basketball program may have led to his decision.
It has been rumored DePaul is in the process of trying to fire coach Jerry Wainwright without buying out his contract.
Perhaps Tucker had seen enough.
Tucker is not projected to be drafted and will likely play overseas or in the D-League next year. The lefty really needs to work on his shot and ball-handling, among other things.
He is simply not ready for the NBA.
The loss of Tucker and possible loss of Mac Koshwal to the NBA means the Blue Demons could be even worse next season – and it’s difficult to get much worse than 0-18 in the Big East.
