Everything was going right for the Magic – Dwight Howard dominating the paint, Rashard Lewis taking the ball to the basket, and Mickael Pietrus finally playing up to his absurd contract.
Then, late in the third quarter, things got real interesting in Boston.
The Celtics bench helped fuel a comeback that cut the Magic lead to four points. Ray Allen’s 3-pointer with 41 seconds left rimmed out, and Orlando held on to win 95-90.
I never thought I would say this, but Pietrus, J.J. Redick, and Rafer Alston outplayed the Celtics backcourt. Both Rajon Rondo and Allen shot just 2-12 from the field, and Rondo committed seven turnovers.
