Gar Forman has been promoted to general manager replacing John Paxson, the Chicago Bulls announced Tuesday.
Paxson will remain in the Bulls front office as executive vice president of basketball operations.
Since being hired in 2003, Paxson helped engineer a return to respectability for the young Bulls.
His tenure was tarnished somewhat by questionable draft picks and the inability to pull the trigger on potential blockbuster deals.
Forman spent the last five years as director of player personnel in Chicago, and was rumored to have assumed full control of the Bulls by February 2009.
It’ll be interesting to see if his decisions as GM make the Bulls a better team or keep it hovering around the .500 mark.
Formon was very involved in scouting Tyrus Thomas, Joakim Noah, and Thabo Sefolosha, none of whom have lived up to potential as of yet.
We’ll see if he finds the next Aaron Gray.
