Smart move: Nic Wise withdraws from NBA Draft

Wise will return to Arizona for his senior season.

Wise will return to Arizona for his senior season.

Since the 2009 NBA Draft is littered with point guards, Nic Wise probably would not have been selected until late in the second round, if at all.

Wise has decided to withdraw from the draft and will return to Arizona, the Associated Press reported Sunday.

The 5’10” Wise averaged 15.7 ppg and 4.6 apg as a junior with the Wildcats. His return gives first-year coach Sean Miller a much-needed scoring threat from the perimeter.

Wise is a natural scorer but needs to improve his all-around game.

Collins coming back

Miami’s Dwayne Collins has withdrawn from the NBA draft and will return to Coral Gables for his senior campaign.

Collins, a 6’8″ forward, averaged 10.6 ppg and 7.3 rpg last season. He is a spectacular athlete but very raw and unpolished, so it’s safe to say he made the correct choice to return to school.

Too bad Greg Paulus won’t be around for Collins to hammer on.
