Butler’s incredible run of good fortune along the road to the Final Four is on the verge of coming to an end.

Matt Howard, the biggest Bulldog on what is a very small team, suffered a mild concussion against Michigan State Saturday and will be a game-time decision for Monday’s National Championship game, the Indianapolis Star reported.

At 6-8, Howard has been the anchor of a tough interior defense that has carried the Bulldogs throughout the tournament.  Although his numbers declined during his junior season, he provided a solid offensive option inside for the perimeter-based Butler attack.

Alabama transfer Avery Jukes and freshman Andrew Smith figure to get more minutes if Howard can’t play.

I would expect Howard to play tonight, but how well or how many minutes remains to be seen.  We’ll have more on this game in a bit here on ToTheTin.
